It’s time to introduce The GREED Academy, the next phase of our educational initiative. In this article, you’ll find out how you can get involved, learn some cool things, and earn rewards simply by participating!
How we got here
After the launch day, when users staked and locked their SOL, we explained our intentions and teased some plans. Several partners decided to support the initiative by donating to the incentive fund, and now is the time to present the full vision for the future. Presenting The GREED Academy
The Real GREED Experiment once again highlighted the lack of education between the web3 participants. It showed us that our community would greatly benefit from structured, comprehensive resources and an easier way to learn about basic topics.
Because of this, it’s time to turn this initiative into a long-term, sustainable project, with clear vision. One of the first steps is to rebrand. We wanted a name that clearly explains what we want to represent while still sticking to the well known “GREED” brand that everyone recognizes from the two experiments. Welcome to the GREED Academy!
The GREED Academy is here to shake things up. We’re on a mission to help everyone navigate web3 smartly. Whether you’re just starting out or already a pro, we‘re going to have something for you. We want to help current participants thrive and make it easier and more exciting for newcomers to jump in. Join us and get the edge you need to stay ahead in the ecosystem — we wish we had this when we started.
The initiative hopes to be long-term sustainable using the block rewards from the validator. If you are not interested in participating in the academy but would still like to support, the best way to do so is to simply stake SOL to our validator. Our validator currently takes zero commission on stake rewards and MEV rewards, meaning that you’re earning the theoretical max rewards from staking while still helping a good cause!

So, what’s next?
During The Real GREED Experiment, users staked and locked their SOL until Breakpoint on September 20th. Now, we are transitioning to the first phase of the GREED Academy, which will last until the unlocking date of the staked accounts. During this first phase, your commitment will be rewarded based on your engagement and performance.
Anyone can join the GREED Academy and share the rewards provided by our amazing partners! You’ll be able to read, watch, or interact with any of our lessons that we will be releasing periodically until Breakpoint. These lessons will cover essential areas of web3, including blockchain basics, security, DeFi, NFTs, marketing and more. Some lessons will be created in collaboration with our partners to provide deeper and valuable insights.
All our educational content will be completely public and accessible to everyone. However, to be eligible to share the reward pool (currently worth around $100k), you need to own a locked stake account before July 29th. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
How It Works — Detailed explanation
Our amazing partners have donated assets to this education initiative that will be shared by anyone eligible after September 20th, 2024. To be eligible, you have to:
- Have a locked staking account delegated to The GREED Validator. Lock here. (only eligible stake accounts are the ones with at least 1 SOL, created through our UI so they have the GREED DAO as the lockup authority, and are locked and delegated from before July 29th until September 20th)
- Complete at least 50% of The GREED Academy lessons that come out before September 20th.
Eligible participants will share the rewards based on:
- Participation in lessons. Your final grade will impact your rewards. Completing at least half of the lessons makes you eligible to participate in the reward split. To maximize your rewards, aim to complete all the lessons. Your final grade depends on the percentage of lessons you complete. This will be tracked and shown on the leaderboard.
- Time spent locked. Rewards split will be calculated based on the number of epochs your SOL remains locked and staked in the GREED validator. The earlier you locked and staked, the more you’ll earn.
- Amount of SOL locked: The rewards split will be proportional to the size of the locked stake accounts . The more SOL you lock and stake, the bigger your reward.
Even though the owners of the stake accounts that are locked since May will have the potential to get a bigger piece of our reward pool if they complete all the lessons, it’s still not too late to join in. And remember, you are only able to create one locked staked account per wallet, so make sure to decide on the amount before you do it.
Our team has developed a new website where you can track your progress and see how you rank among other GREED Academy users. In each lesson, users will identify themselves with their wallets, which will be used to track progress. There will be limited time windows for those who want to qualify for the rewards to complete each of the lessons. The leaderboard will show the amount of SOL locked and staked with our validator, activation epoch, and lesson completion status. This way, you can see how high you rank in this first phase of The GREED Academy and monitor which lessons you have completed.
