In this article we will present a step by step tutorial explaining how to make a DAO proposal to unlock staking accounts.
The GREED incentive fund
Before moving to the tutorial, it’s important to once again point out that by unlocking your stake you’re opting out of participating in splitting the GREED incentive fund that currently stands at over $100,000. Only the wallets that stay locked and staked to our validator will be eligible to share that pot.
If you undelegated your stake from our validator already, it’s still not too late to rejoin and participate in the split, the cutoff date will be announced soon. The duration of the delegation will be taken in consideration for the split.
If you still want to proceed with unlocking, keep reading. If you don’t care about unlocking but are interested in learning more or supporting the initiative, please skip the tutorial and go straight to the end of the article!
Step by step tutorial on making an unlock proposal
Keep in mind that to make sure people unlocking are willingly doing so, we will insist on stake account owners making the proposals for themselves. The only exceptions can be made if the description of the proposal clearly explains why it’s being made for someone else and the stake account owner comments on the proposal as soon as it’s created confirming they want to go through with it.
There is no deadline forunlocking, you can create a proposal at any point in time before September 20th. If you’re not sure about it right now, you can wait and make your decision later.
Last thing before going into the steps is just a huge shoutout to the amazing team working on Realms, the home of most DAOs on Solana. Without their help and hard work, this would not be possible!
Step 0: Check your eligibility
Make sure you have “The Real $GREED Ticket” tokens in your wallet. That token is what gives you governance power in our DAO! No matter how many tokens you have, you will have 1 vote.
Step 1: Join The $GREED Experiment DAO
To join the DAO, you need to visit Realms and find our DAO by searching for “The $GREED Experiment”, or simply go directly to our DAO by clicking this link:
Once you’re there, connect your wallet by using the button in the top right. If the wallet you connected meets the requirements to participate in governance, you will see “1 vote” Under “My governance power”. Only if that’s the case, click the “Join” button below, and sign the transaction.
That’s it, you’re now a member of the DAO and you’re ready for the next step!
Step 2: Find the address of the locked stake account
There are several ways to find the address of your locked staking account, I’m going to explain the one that seems the simplest no matter what wallet you’re using.
Search for your wallet address on Solscan and select “Stake Accounts”. You will see a list of your stake accounts, with their addresses in the first column. Copy the address of your locked stake account, and you’re ready for step 3!
Step 3: Make a proposal to unlock your stake account
Go back to our DAO page, and click “New proposal”
A new page will open with some fields to fill, so let’s go in order:
- Title: Enter the title of your proposal. This can be anything, but keep in mind title is what will make people decide if they are checking out your proposal or not!
- Description: This field is not mandatory, but you can use it to explain to everyone with voting power why they should go and vote!
- Don’t change anything else above “Transactions”
- In the Transactions field, you need to find the instruction “Common: Stake Account Remove Lock” in the dropdown menu. You can find it fast by typing “lock” and selecting it
- In the treasury account dropdown menu, you need to select the treasury wallet “DYSfcQYyioaQL3uLQk2xvjaHB4zx6DyGEDhywd3mfh8s”
- In the “Stake” field is where your stake account addres that we found in “Step 2” goes.
- That’s it, you’re ready to press “Add proposal” on the bottom of the page, and sign a transaction!
Step 4: Vote!
The only thing left is to vote and gather support for your proposal to pass! Quorum is set very low, so you need only 15 yes votes out of more than 1500 DAO members.
To vote on the proposal, visit your proposal page (it will automatically open once you create the new proposal or you can finding on the DAO homepage), click “Vote Yes”, and sign the transaction!
Step 5: Turn on notifications
To get notified when new proposals are being made so you can participate in helping others who want to unlock or just to follow the DAO activity, I suggest you turn on notifications.
You can do so by pressing the bell icon in the top right while on the DAO homepage, and then pressing “Set up notifications”.
The most convenient way is connecting it to your telegram in the next step, so you don’t miss any proposals!
